M.I.N.K. League mourns the passing of league president Jeff Post

Nevada, MO - M.I.N.K. League president Jeff Post passed away Thursday morning. He had served as the league president for the last five years.
"Jeff was a very big part of the league," M.I.N.K. Commissioner Ron Rodriguez said. "He will be sorely missed. He was a great leader for the league during his tenure and leaves some big shoes to fill."
Post was a board member and former general manager of the Nevada Griffons—as part of the Jayhawk League and when the Griffons came into the M.I.N.K. league in 2009.
He was very active with baseball even outside of the league—volunteering locally in Nevada with Little League Baseball. Post was also involved with the Nevada Little League Football, Nevada Dirt Dawgs Girls Softball, and the Nevada Lions Club.
Outside of sports, he ran the daily operations for Morrison-Post Insurance Agency, Inc. in Nevada—which he worked closely with his father (John) and then later his mother (Ronda) and wife (Gail).
Post graduated high school from Nevada R-5 in 1980 and then graduated college from Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, Mo with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing.
Post is survived by his wife, Gail; his son Kevin and his wife Sarah; four grandchildren, Emilie, Kalen, Colton and Makenzie; mother, Ronda Post; his mother-in-law, Catherine Round; brother, J.L. Post; foreign exchange brother, Tor Skeie and his wife Hronn and their children, Marius, Marlin and Marita of Norway; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Linden; and his father-in-law, Gene Round.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 at the First Christian Church in Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Christian Church or Nevada Griffons Baseball in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
M.I.N.K. League Commissioner Steinkamp Retires

ST. JOSEPH, Mo.— The M.I.N.K League will have a new commissioner for the 2019 season as Bob Steinkamp has announced he is retiring.
"He was one of the founders of the league," Ron Rodriguez said. "The league as we know it started in the mid-90s and he was a very big part of the league at that time. He has a lot of connections throughout college baseball."
Steinkamp was inducted into the NBC Hall of Fame in 2013, managed the Beatrice Bruins for 40 years and a scout for the Seattle Mariners.
Even when Steinkamp took over as the league manager and no longer managed the Bruins, he helped teams around the M.I.N.K.
"The league owes a lot to Bob to where it's at right now," Rodriguez said. "Bob did a lot for the league."
With Steinkamp's retirement, the league has voted longtime umpire Ron Rodriguez to be the next commissioner.
"I'm very excited about the league," Rodriguez said. "We have a lot of solid foundations already set and I can't wait to get the season started."
