Gonzalez, Harrington earn inaugural 2025 MINK weekly awards

 

Carroll's Gavin Gonzalez and St. Joseph's Aron Harrington wasted no time making an impact on their teams as the summer college baseball season got underway. Thanks to those early impressions, Gonzalez was named MINK League Hitter of the Week, while Harrington was tagged as the MINK League Pitcher of the Week.

Gavin Gonzalez, Merchants

There is a lot to like about Gonzalez's game, and he's quickly becoming one of the most exciting players in the MINK.

The right fielder is batting a stellar .520 with 13 hits in 25 at-bats. He's all alone atop the league slugging .880 – over 150 points higher than the next closest hitter, and Gonzalez has an other-worldly OPS of 1.418.

The Orlando, FL native burst onto the scene going 2-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs in his Carroll debut, and he's collected a hit in every game he's stepped to the plate.

Recently, the production went up a notch, and it's reflected in the win column for the Merchants. Gonzalez has three straight multi-hit games, which includes a 4-4 performance with three RBIs. Carroll is heating up just like its slugger with three wins in their last four games.

Gonzalez, a two-way player that's also logged a pair of innings on the mound for the Merchants, completed his freshman year at Erskine College in South Carolina this spring.

Aron Harrington, Mustangs

Harrington returned to St. Joseph this summer as an anchor of the rotation for the defending league champs, and he hasn't missed a beat.

The 6-foot-3 lefty is 2-0 after a pair of scoreless outings for the Mustangs.

Harrington mowed down the NEMO Craze in the opener, striking out nine across four innings. He followed that up with five innings of two-hit ball against the Chillicothe Mudcats. The Council Bluffs, IA product has struckout 15 and walked three.

Thanks to Harrington's heroics, the Mustangs are off to a 7-1 start to the season.
